You are not fashionably late. Your disregard for time, deadlines and schedules let’s us all know that you are fickle, flaky and a fool.
Early = on time.
On time = running late.
Late = It’s better that you do not show up.
Reasons to be punctual:
- Show the host and guests that you value their time, and your time is equally important.
- Have an opportunity to be part of the start of the conversation, versus interrupting and playing catch up.
- Be in the same mood and flow of the other guests. They probably had a few sips of cocktails and already have a buzz.
- Reduces stress and makes you appear poised and in control.
- Demonstrate that you are responsible and reliable, especially if it’s an important meeting or interview.
