A Place to Put Your Pocketbook

Seeing a pocketbook on the floor just breaks my heart. A pocketbook can be one of the most expensive and beautiful accessories a woman can own. There is never a reason or occasion when it’s okay to subject your pocketbook to the indignity of dragging on the filthy floor or ground. Sometimes, it can get in the way of our daily lives. However, there are elegant and sophisticated ways to handle your pocketbook.

What to do with the pocketbook:

  1. Hang by the handle over the arm of the chair. This keeps the pocketbook in your line of vision and safe from sticky fingers.
  2. Position the pocketbook next to you on the seat. This can only work if your thighs leave enough room between your body and the arm of the chair. If your thighs touch the side of the chair, please do not even try.
  3. Hang the pocketbook over the back of the chair. Whereas this keeps the pocketbook off the ground and out of your way, it also leaves the valuable contents of your bag vulnerable to theft.
  4. Some bars have hooks strategically placed under the bar precisely for the purpose of hanging pocketbooks. Take a second to quickly check if those are available before keeping your pocketbook in your lap or placing it on top of the bar.
  5. You can also keep your pocketbook in your lap. I am not a fan of this option, as it can look awkward with anything larger than a clutch. However, it is a better choice than the floor.
  6. Table purse hook. This is a very cool gadget that you can discreetly take anywhere in any size pocketbook or purse. The hook allows you to hang the pocketbook from the corner of a desk or a table.
