Sighs, Moans, & Groans

Leave these sounds to when you are genuinely in pain or in the bedroom. Better yet, leave it to the old and the disabled. I have seen young, healthy and very able women get up from their seats with a moan, groan or sigh. These sounds are pitiful and annoying.

Even if you are in pain, not all pain needs to be audible. There is dignity in clenching your teeth and sucking it up if you are uncomfortable.  Be aware of the noises that you make, smile and grit your teeth through slight pain. If you are in so much pain to be moaning or groaning, stay home or go to the hospital.

Prepare to Pay

Get Your Cash out BEFORE you're at the front of the line

Standing in line to pay for goods and services is something we all do on a regular basis. Bless the hearts of people who wait until the very last minute to get money from their purses and pockets. Your good looks will not pay for your items. You are not going to hypnotize the cashier into giving you stuff for free. While you are fishing for money, everyone behind you is thinking, “You big dummy”.

You are unprepared, wasting time and a nuisance to the cashier and everyone around you. You are okay with wasting your own time, but not not waste the time of the other people forced to wait while you search your purse. Get your act together and be prepared to pay as soon as you are at the front of the line.

Hold the Door, Then Keep it Moving

You should hold the door open for the person behind you. That person  appreciates it, and people who witness your act of kindness respect it.  It literally takes a couple of seconds to perform a gesture that elevates you above the basic, selfish and inconsiderate. I believe that you are okay to do this for one person. Just one. Holding the door for 2 or more people makes you the unofficial doorman, or the weirdo with too much time on their hands. You should hold the door for everyone, but specially for the old and physically disabled.

If someone holds the door open for you, walk fast enough so they are not holding the door forever, and say “Thank you”. If you are too far away, gesture or say something to indicate that they should let the door close.
